Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Certificated teacher
Subjects: English, Te reo Maori, Hauora, Hangarau, Nga Reo, Nga Toi, Te Reo Maori, Te Reo Pakeha, Tikanga a-iwi, Pangarau, Putaiao
Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is New Zealand's largest school with a roll of up to 24,000 akonga (students) at any point in time. We provide personalised learning programmes from early childhood to NCEA Level 3.
Our akonga are at the centre of all we do. We are privileged to support many akonga on their learning journey, including many at-risk akonga.
The successful applicant will be part of a collaborative team guiding and supporting innovative and inclusive curriculum design across a range of matauranga Maori contexts.
We are seeking a passionate, experienced kaiako to join our Te Aka Taumatua tima in Nga Kete o Te Ao Maori. Experience in teaching one or all subjects, Te Reo Maori NCEA, Kaupapa Maori NCEA, and Te Ao Haka NCEA across Level 1-3 is essential. This is an exciting opportunity to nurture and shape the next generation of Maori leaders. You will contribute to revitalising te reo, preserve Maori performing arts, and support akonga in their journey through te ao Maori.

Deep knowledge of Te Ao Haka and its significance in te ao Maori
Experience in NCEA assessment and moderation
Understanding of local iwi histories and traditions
Ability to create engaging learning experiences that connect akonga to their cultural heritage
Strong relationships with whanau, hapu, and iwi
Commitment to the preservation and advancement of te reo Maori
