Full-time - Fixed term January - December 2025 1 FTE (40 hours per week) Based in Whangarei Office

Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is New Zealand's largest school with a roll of up to 24,000 akonga (students) at any point of time. We provide personalised and authentic learning programmes through distance education from early childhood to NCEA Level 3, including to young adult and adult learners.
Our vision is to enable our akonga to achieve their educational and personal goals, empowering them to become engaged and contributing members of their communities.
Our akonga are at the centre of all we do. Our learning programmes are flexible, enabling us to respond to diverse akonga needs Ki te ti, ki te ta, ki te katoa – Anytime, anywhere, anyone.
Teaching at Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu
Kaiako at Te Kura engage with our akonga online and face-to-face at huinga ako (advisories) and events, and also work onsite with colleagues in our regional offices. Te Kura aims to provide flexible working arrangements, so Kaiako are able to request to work from home for up to two days per week.

We are looking for a creative, innovative Kaiako (teacher) who's an expert in English, to join our team in Whangarei.
It's an exciting time at Te Kura as we continue to innovate and transform the way we provide distance learning. In our online environment, we work with the latest technologies and are constantly growing in this space.
We're forward thinking and do things a little differently, but that doesn't mean no student contact! You'll interact with students at advisories, communicate with them using online tools and guide a group of students as their Learning Advisor. We are committed to seeing you grow with us and development opportunities often crop up within the school.

You are interested in authentic learning; you model current pedagogy and are always coming up with new ideas. You're enthusiastic, collaborative, understand the key competencies of the New Zealand curriculum assessment practice and are committed to improving education outcomes for students.
