Awanui Labs – Canterbury is a community-based diagnostic laboratory, and we process 3000+ samples daily from our 11 collection sites, general practice and private hospitals.About the role | Mo te turanga:We are looking for a Second in-charge for our Biochemistry/Immunology Department to work with the Head of the Department and provide leadership to the biochemistry/immunology team including Technical Specialists, Medical Lab Scientists, and Medical Lab Technicians in day-to-day operations.
This is a full-time permanent role working Monday to Friday, 80 hours per fortnight and includes participation in an out of hours rota.In this role you will:Develop a cohesive team and maintain a commitment to providing a high-quality service.Oversee workflows, develop and improve processes in line with the quality standards.Actively support HOD in staff management, rostering and monitoring the performance of the laboratory staff.Actively support the HOD with Payroll and Procurement submissions.Monitor supplies to keep the laboratory resources adequate.To be considered for this role you will need:NZ Medical Laboratory Science Board RegistrationA current Annual Practicing CertificateA background in Biochemistry and/or Immunology (minimum of 5 years' laboratory experience)Previous supervisory and/or staff management is desirableAbility to motivate and develop staff; train staff to the required level of competenceAbility to delegate tasks.If you are passionate about your work, dedicated to quality and want to be part of a friendly, supportive team then we want to hear from you.Please apply with your updated CV and a cover letter.
