Distinction Hotels Group is a 100% New Zealand owned & operated, and its premium 112 room hotel, nestled in beautiful Te Anau, the gateway to Milford Sounds and a great base to explore Fiordland.
About the opportunity A great opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and ambitious Sous Chef to join a great team. Servicing around 100 to 180 covers for dinner Both TDH and a la carte, with approx 200 for breakfast in the height of the season season.
The candidate will come from a Hotel or Events background and must have previous experience managing a kitchen as a Senior Chef or Sous Chef level.The Senior Sous Chef will be ready to lead the team in absence of the Head Chef and continue on the current service delivery of our busy kitchen.Reporting directly to the Executive Chef and General Manager your role will involve:Responsibilities & Key tasks You will have a knowledge of both conferencing and A La carte restaurant service, take pride in what you are producing and can pass on your passion and knowledge to the team.1. Creating a variety of menus, with the ability to cater to special dietary requirements2. Produce quality cuisine across the range of outlets in our hotel3. Controlling of the Food Control Plan and the daily managing of CHOMP program.4. Have a strong focus on health and safety and NZ food hygiene standards5. Food ordering and stock takes6. Staying within the food budget7. Leading and developing the kitchen team.The ideal candidate will have:1. Minimum 2 years' experience as a Senior Chef or Sous chef.2. Buffet, Banquet and a la carte experience.3. A professional approach and a passion for the industry.4. The ability to lead, support & mentor a small team.5. Excellent communication skills.6. A positive work attitude and flexibly with shifts.7. Currently resident in New Zealand with appropriate work permit
Subsidized seasonal staff accommodation can be made available.
Hours of work - this is a Seasonal role on a rotating roster Monday to Sunday, weekends, school holidays and public holidays will be required to be worked to meet hotel demands.This role would be ideal for someone who wants to build a career in a progressive, fast growing, New Zealand owned Hotel chain.
