The Tidal Steps, which expand off Karanga Plaza, allow for people to sit and watch the boats go by or jump right in for a swim. The tidal stairs provide a connection to the waters of the Waitemata and invite swimming and ceremonial arrival. The generously scaled steps create a natural gathering place and vantage point from which to view the spectacle of the city and water-based activity.
As Lead Lifeguard for our Karanga Plaza Tidal Steps, you will play a key role in ensuring that all the people there not only have a fantastic experience but a safe one.
Your main responsibilities will include the following: General lifeguarding duties to ensure swimmers are safe and looked after.Ensure a fun, supportive and vibrant environment for work colleagues and swimmers.Supporting the Team Leader with day-to-day operations.Resolve any issues and escalate to Team Leader when required.This is a fixed-term full-time position working Tuesday to Saturday 9:45 am - 6:15 pm from 2 December 2024 to 7 February 2025, then 16 hours weekends only from 8 February to 2 March.

Ideally, you will hold a current first aid certificate and a pool lifeguard practicing certificate, but the right applicant will be considered and suitably trained.

Pay rate: $29.01+ / Hour Auckland Council is committed to the protection and wellbeing of children. This role is classified as a Children's Worker role under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014.
