Seafood Manager
Our busy Birkenhead, North Shore, Auckland supermarket is seeking a customer-driven, self-motivated, enthusiastic person who has good, sound experience in the supermarket seafood retail industry to lead our Seafood team.
As the Seafood Manager for New World Birkenhead, you will be responsible for managing, planning, and organising the running of our store's Seafood department. You will need to ensure all tasks are efficiently and accurately completed in a timely and professional manner.
We require someone who has good knowledge and experience of SAP in the supermarket industry and has at least three years of proven experience organising and supervising a team.
The service that we provide to our customers must be second-to-none; therefore, we seek someone who can communicate effectively with our customers to ensure their needs are met and that they receive high-quality products every time.
Responsibilities
Ensure overall operational excellence is achieved for the Seafood department.
Manage, motivate, train, and support the Seafood team, ensuring that best practice policies and operational procedures are met.
Organise rostering for the Seafood department and manage staff leave.
Order for the Seafood department through effective use of the in-store purchasing systems. Ensure range matches the format and customer service requirements while optimising stock holding levels and stock turn.
Liaise with suppliers as appropriate and ensure that all stock is sourced through approved suppliers, all orders placed on time, and all products checked on arrival for quality and receipted in as per store process.
Ensure appropriate stock control / stock taking processes and procedures are in place.
Clean all serve overs, storage areas, and Seafood equipment.
Complete weekly stock-takes.
Ensure sales and GP targets for the department are met or exceeded and that wage costs are controlled appropriately.
Help to ensure the shop is full, fresh, and appealing throughout the hours of trade, all food safety practices are adhered to, and stock levels are controlled appropriately.
Handle customer enquiries and complaints appropriately and always ensure effective interactions with customers.
Assist in other areas of the store as required (including Butchery and Service Deli).
Minimum Requirements
Previous supermarket seafood retail experience (minimum one year).
SAP experience and good working knowledge of SAP (minimum one year).
Experience supervising and organising a team (minimum three years).
Proven experience ordering through the Procure Fresh Ordering system.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers and staff.
Good command of written and spoken English.
Able to work in a fast-paced team environment.
Fantastic customer service experience.
Excellent computer skills.
Flexible and driven with a strong work ethic and a fantastic attitude.
Able to prioritise and multitask consistently to meet strict deadlines for order completion.
Physically fit and able to fulfil all the requirements of the role (this role does require some heavy lifting).
Willing to assist in our Butchery and Service Deli departments.
Willing to work over our busy Christmas/New Year period and public holidays.
Able to start December 2024.
This role is a full-time, permanent position (31.5 hrs/week); Monday 6 am to 9 am, Tuesday 12 pm to 10 pm, Friday 6 am to 4 pm, and Saturday 6 am to 4 pm. However, we require someone who is able to be flexible due to the nature of supermarket retail.
Hourly wage of $29.70 for the right candidate who meets all the above-mentioned criteria. Applicants must have NZ residency or the legal right to work in New Zealand.
