Schools & Groups Coordinator | Whakapapa JobID: 160689 Department: Ski & Ride School Listed: January 29, 2024 The Whakapapa whanau are a small but ambitious team, running year-round operations on the northern slopes of Mt Ruapehu. In winter, from June until October, this includes a world-class ski area. In summer, from December until April, this includes our summer sightseeing operation, heroing our iconic Sky Waka gondola. Each year we welcome hundreds of thousands of manuhiri (guests) to Whakapapa, many with life-long connections to the maunga (mountain) and surrounding rohe (region), some even third or fourth generation. Join the team in this role that mixes reservations and guest service with on-snow delivery of our schools and groups programme . You don't need to be a skier or snowboarder but you should be able to pick things up quickly, and bring your exceptional organisational skills to hit the snow running. Mo te tunga | About the role More appropriately, this job should be named the schools and groups juggler! Along with assisting the rest of the team with their daily tasks, you'll be liaising with schools from around the country & groups who come up to experience our maunga (mountain). You will report to the Ski & Ride Head of Department, however this role will need you to create a close relationship with the rentals and guest service staff in order to cater to each group's individual needs and deliver the best experience ever. The essential tasks include: Assist in developing systems and process to enhance the booking process Coordinate the daily operations of Schools & G roups , ensuring a thorough and efficient service is provided to guests. Ensure all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, filed correctly and easy to find. Ensure that schools and groups are informed of their timetable prior to arrival. Ensure all tills are cashed-up and group numbers and charges are reconciled accurately each day and purchase order numbers or reference numbers are attached to the reconciliation where possible. This is a challenging role, but for someone who is patient, a good negotiator and loves seeing a plan come together, it could be the job for you. Some prior experience and skills that are beneficial to this role include : Experience in coordinating projects or staff Exceptional problem-solving skills Knowledge of general hardware and software applications, knowledge of Siriusware is an advantage Excellent communication skills; the ability to convey information in technical and non-technical manners Skilled in developing and maintaining customer relationships. A quick response to requests, ideas and suggestions in a non-defensive way. On 18 December, DOC announced public notification of Pure Turoa Limited's concession application to operate Turoa ski area.
