Who are we looking for?
ALIL is looking for a dedicated individual to join our terrific Operations Team.
The role will include the day-to-day operations of ALIL, including: Managing water orders and the network of water control assets via our SCADA network; Providing preventative and reactive maintenance to scheme assets; Interacting with shareholders; Managing contractors; Assistance with scheme projects; and Most importantly being part of a close-knit team.
The Irrigation season runs from September to May and during this time you would be required to work within an on-call roster system, which includes weekends (currently 1 in 4).
Outside of the Irrigation season, you would work a standard 40-hour week Monday – Friday.
What do you need?
The successful applicant will: Be physically fit, practical and enjoy working in the outdoors Have a positive can-do attitude, with a great sense of humour Have analytical & problem-solving skills Be curious with the ability to think outside of the square Have an affinity for the rural sector Have an ability to work unsupervised and display a level of initiative, but also be adaptable and a team player Proficient computer skills, with an ability to learn Have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Strong Health & Safety awareness Ability to work on-call & cover rostered weekend work Any of the following skills & attributes would be advantageous but not essential to the role: Mechanical or electrical trade/aptitude Experience operating open channel and piped infrastructure Knowledge of pump systems Experience operating SCADA networks Experience using the Microsoft 365 suite Be based in Mid Canterbury What are we offering?
