About the Role : We are seeking a hands-on, proactive Scheme Manager to oversee the operations of our irrigation scheme.
This role blends operational duties with active stakeholder engagement, ensuring the seamless management of water resources in the Omakau area.
You will be responsible for coordinating seasonal operations, managing contractors, and maintaining infrastructure while fostering strong relationships with the board, contractors, and local community.
In addition, you will liaise with the Otago Regional Council on regulatory and environmental matters.
Key Responsibilities : Managing seasonal operations, including water orders, race patrols, and maintenance programs.
Timely and accurate recording and actioning of water sales using the OAIC app.
Ensuring the use of technology for operational tasks, data management, and compliance.
Budgeting and overseeing winter maintenance and contracting.
Promoting safety as a top priority , ensuring compliance with all safety policies and processes.
Attending board meetings and contributing to strategic discussions.
Maintaining records of daily activities, including mileage readings and job overviews.
Ensuring vehicles and equipment are kept in good working order, regularly cleaned, and serviced.
