Whakatane Intermediate School (U6) is looking to appoint a permanent, full-time position to begin in term 1, 2025. Whakatane Intermediate is a PB4L School, identifies with CRRP and its principles, runs Y7–8 composite classes, and is proud of its bi-cultural environment.
We are looking for an energetic and self-motivated educator who values and understands the unique nature of the emerging adolescent. An in-depth curriculum knowledge and understanding of the learning progressions of this age group is vital to this position, as well as having knowledge of using digital devices for education.
The position will require the person to be prepared to teach in either our bilingual or mainstream syndicate teams as needed. The expectation in the bilingual syndicate is around te reo Maori and Tikanga being a significant part of the learning programme. An understanding and knowledge of Maori culture and a desire to support the kaupapa is considered essential to teach here. Personal levels of fluency for te reo can be at any level.
The successful applicant needs to have a collaborative approach, the ability to build strong relationships with whanau, belief in being a learner themselves, and contribute to a friendly and caring staffroom culture. A commitment to contributing to the school's strong co-curricular programme would also be of interest.
Queries about the position and/or school visits are welcomed.
