To collect water and environmental samples from the Hawke's Bay and surrounding regions, including, but not limited to, environmental monitoring sites, trade waste, reservoirs, water mains, waste treatment plants and customer sites in an approved manner.
The role also includes laboratory-based testing as well as the preparation of samples to be sent to other Eurofins laboratories.
The position will also include liaising with customers to coordinate their sampling requirements.
The appointee will be expected to have the ability and skills necessary to work independently.Key roles are:Plan and carry out the day's sampling programme to make best use of time and to travel the least distance possibleEnsure that any interaction with public or clients is courteous, professional, and prompt to provide information and answer basic queriesCollect samples ensuring no contamination occurs as a result of the sampling process and to carry out any on site measurements requiredAccurately record details relating to time, place, and on-site measurementsOperate in accordance with the company's Quality and Procedures manualsPlan and carry out analyses to meet and preferably exceed customer expectationsProcess samples within the allowable time & temperature holding time under the requirements of the NZ Drinking Water Standards, RLP, or other applicable regulationsConduct in-laboratory analysis as requiredIn addition, other requirements of this position are:Comply with the company's Health and Safety proceduresInform the Laboratory Manager immediately of any problems with equipment or instrumentation or day to day workProactively identify opportunities to improve service deliveryUndertake additional tasks when requestedAdopt the company's Lean Principles.To be successful for this role, you will have the following:Certificate / Diploma in Laboratory Techniques; or equivalent qualification; or significant laboratory experience.Experience in a commercial laboratory will be an advantage.Experience working within an administration role or similar would be highly regarded.Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to structure thoughts deliberately, logically and directly.Knowledge of standard office applications, especially MS Word and MS Excel.Strong attention to detail.Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
