The Position:
Join our team as Safety Manager at Queenstown Airport reporting to our Head of Operations, Safety & Compliance. Lead safety initiatives, develop protocols, and ensure Queenstown Airport is at the forefront of safety within its community. Ideal candidates have considerable experience as a Health and Safety champion and exhibit strong leadership, risk assessment skills, and a passion for safety within the Aviation sector. This role at QAC enables continuous improvement in safety by influencing leaders, managers and individual contributors to engage and actively participate in delivering best practice safety performance through effective communications, training, advice and support.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring and improving QAC's safety systems.
Responsible for leading and/or participating in complex safety investigations.
Responsible for coordinating with CAA in the preparation and delivery of external compliance audits.
Responsible for building a safety culture within QAC through timely and practical advice to ensure all airfield and airside operations are undertaken in strict accordance with CAA Rule 139.
Responsible for ensuring QAC meets and exceeds its obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act, as well as all other relevant legislation.
Your Skills and Experience:
Sound knowledge and understanding of Civil Aviation rule Part 139 and ICAO Annex 14.
ICAM qualifications and experience in leading investigations, including dealing with external agencies where necessary.
Strong influencing skills – able to engage team members to take ownership and contribute to the successful achievement of QAC's safety goals.
To be comfortable actively and independently managing own workload and proactively identifying priority areas.
A high level of initiative and accountability in making things happen.
Strategic thinker & decision making skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally.
