Rural Hospital Specialist - Emergency Department - Whanganui Hospital

We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent Rural Hospital Medicine (RHM) Specialist to join our ED Department in Whanganui.

Attractive remuneration package including a 20% base salary shift allowance Six weeks paid leave 10 days training leave and $16,000 Supervise and participate in teaching of junior medical workforce. Whanganui Hospital has a busy 15 bed Emergency Department, 5 bed Acute Assessment unit and 6 bed critical care unit, with around 25,000 emergency department attendances every year. Our hospital is a 138 bed - Care Capacity Demand Management (CCDM) secondary hospital.

Our team is committed to providing patients with the best possible personalised care available in a small hospital, with all the benefits of having state-of-the-art technology at its disposal.

You will be joining a team of 8 SMOs where you will work 21 clinical shifts over a 6 week roster. Shift times are 0730 to 1530, 1100 to 1900, and 1600 to 2400 + overnight call.

You will need to be a Fellow of the Division of Rural Hospital Medicine (FDRHM) with an interest and experience in Emergency medicine, or a dual trained RHM / FACEM or FACEM with an interest and experience in rural hospital medicine.
