'Ruamahanga Roads' is a shared roading service across the Carterton and South Wairarapa District Councils. It aims to be the best transport unit in New Zealand enabling the councils to work together to connect communities and meet current and future roading needs for the two districts. The Roading Engineer will assist the Roading Manager with effective programming and management of renewal works within the South Wairarapa and Carterton Councils roading infrastructure. You'll be a self-motivated civil engineer wanting to gain or increase your experience in rural local authority roading renewals, along with asset management and road maintenance. You'll contribute to ensure the overall transport network is renewed and developed in an integrated way that is safe, sustainable and meets the needs of the community. In addition, you'll contribute to a culture of team collaboration. Our ideal candidate will have: A relevant tertiary qualification in civil engineering, highway engineering, surveying or a related discipline.Computer literate including experience with roading software, asset management database RAMM, transport insights and Junoviewer.2-3 years' experience in managing consents, resource management and development.A working knowledge of the relevant legislation/policy and can demonstrate a successful track record.A strong knowledge of project management principles.In addition, you'll be: A strong communicator, with the ability to successfully run public consultation.Experienced initiating and leading change to achieve organisational goals.Agile in thinking and working, and comfortable working in both a non-structured and structured way.Able to professionally present sometimes complex information to a range of audiences.A strong negotiator with excellent relationship management skills.If you're passionate about making a difference and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, this opportunity is for you!
