Established in 1995, our client Tuwharetoa ki Kawerau Hauora provides a range of appropriate, accessible and sustainable health, education and social services that improves the well-being of Iwi and the wider community for all who reside within Kawerau and the Eastern Bay of Plenty region. This is a full-time, fixed-term role, of approximately 7-8 months duration to cover a period of parental leave.He aha te tunga | About the roleThe Rheumatic Fever Community Health Worker supports supports the implementation of the rheumatic fever prevention programme to reduce the incidence of rheumatic fever in children aged 5-14 years in the Eastern Bay of Plenty (EBOP) area.The role includes the delivery of throat swabs and basic skin assessments under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in schools around EBOP and at Te Whare Haumanu clinic.The role also includes providing clinic reception cover when staff are away.Key responsibilities of the role include but not limited to:Provide support to the nurses with home and clinic appointmentsNurse-led clinic supportThroat swabbingConducting weekly school visitsCompleting Kiri ora basic healthy skin assessmentsHealth care advice, promotion and educationReportingProvide clinic reception cover as requiredNga pukenga me whai | The ideal candidate requirements:Current First Aid CertificateFamiliarisation with the specific programme's standard operating proceduresSore throat assessment and swabbingSkin assessment and infection controlUnderstanding of school systemsKnowledge of simple skin conditions and treatmentsFamiliarisation with Rheumatic Fever programme standard operating proceduresClean full NZ Drivers LicenceAble to develop working relationships with whanau, internal and external stakeholdersExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsWorking knowledge of MedtechExcellent computer literacy skills, with proficiency in all Microsoft Office functionsExcellent organisational and time management skillsHigh attention to detailA commitment to safe work practicesEmpathy, showing respect for clients and their whanauKnowledge and awareness of tikanga Maori culture and history, and an understanding of Te Reo Maori is desirableWhy Tuwharetoa ki Kawerau Hauora?With a vision of Ko te noho oranga o te whanau o te tinana o te hinengaro o te wairua e tai ai te mauri mo nga tangata katoa, Whanau wellbeing is the unity of body mind and spirt the life force for all people and drives what they do.RECRUITMENT INFORMATIONOnly applicants who are legally entitled to work in New Zealand with no visa restrictions and have a Current First Aid Certificate will be considered for this advertised position.
