Green by Nature (formally known as Recreational Services) is proud to be the Waitaki District Council's chosen service provider, entrusted with maintaining the beauty of the region's parks, playgrounds, cemeteries, gardens and public facilities. We are now looking for a reliable individual to join us as a Response Operator on a permanent, full-time basis.What does a Response Operator do?Our Response Operators are versatile, jack-of-all-trades superstars who bring a wide range of skills to the table. They tackle various tasks that keep our public spaces in top shape. Drawing on your background in building, maintenance, or practical handy work, you'll respond to daily callouts to repair council assets. From setting up bollards and fixing broken picnic tables to mending fences and installing park signs, you'll play a key role in maintaining our community spaces. You'll also have the opportunity to take on minor building projects, landscaping, and garden maintenance. Some weekend work may be required for urgent callouts.Skills And ExperienceYou'll be using your practical skills which you may have gained from working in an outdoors role, involved in building, or related industriesAbility to interpret building plans, along with skills in hard and soft landscaping, carpentry, concreting, and machinery operationA current, full class 1 driver's licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle is essentialExperience in managing projects, including planning and client communicationSelf-motivation with a strong work ethic, capable of working independently when neededPhysically fit and able to manage some heavy lifting at timesA desire to complete all jobs to a high standard of workWhat We Can Offer YouAs part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside professionals, expand your knowledge and experience, and develop your career.
