THE ROLE / TE MAHIWe are seeking a dedicated, innovative person who has strong communication skills, is a collaborative team player and can relate to people from diverse backgrounds.You will be required to travel to mainstream schools, Kura Kaupapa Maori/Mana Maori Early Childhood/Kohanga Reo to work closely with DHH students, whanau and school staff/teams to support learners in both English and Te Reo Maori.You will need to take responsibility for managing your assigned caseload, maintaining up to date assessment, planning and student records, liaise with whanau, school and community agencies to support student participation and success in their education and life outcomes.Proven best practice in working with learners enrolled in an Early Childhood or School aged setting, using English or Te Reo Maori and/or experience working with DHH learners.Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with learners, whanau, schools and other stakeholders.NZ registered teacher or a qualified Teacher of the Deaf or willing to undertake study.Use of own car with mileage reimbursed.
Depending on expected weekly mileage a lease car may be provided for your work travel.Must reside within easy access to the advertised region and be willing to travel to support a designated caseload.You will have existing skills, or demonstrate a willingness to develop proficiency, in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) and listening and spoken language practices for DHH learners.Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and upholding the principles of Te Tiriti within teaching practice.Knowledge and understanding around matauranga Maori and support local tikanga.How to applyPlease apply online and send your direct enquiries only to:Physical address: 38 Truro Street, Sumner, Christchurch Get new listings like these in your email Suggested as they share a similar subject, location or sector.
