Ko Taku Reo Deaf Education New Zealand is the nationwide provider of education services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) learners. We focus on growth, learning, and collaboration. The learners and their whanau are at the core of everything we do.
THE ROLE / TE MAHI
We are seeking an engaging, innovative person with strong communication skills and a collaborative team player, as these skills will be essential in all you do.
You will be required to travel to mainstream schools, Kura Kaupapa Maori/Mana Maori early childhood/kohanga reo to work closely with DHH students, whanau, and school staff/teams to support learners in both English and te reo Maori.
Engage with your assigned caseload, maintaining related record keeping and liaising with families and whanau to assist with student participation and success in their education and life outcomes.
Proven best practice and experience working with Deaf children and/or working with mainstream children.
Qualified teacher of the Deaf or an experienced full NZ registered teacher.
Use of your own car with mileage reimbursed. Depending on expected weekly mileage, a lease car may be provided for your work travel.
Must reside within easy access to the advertised region and be willing to travel within a designated caseload.
You should have existing skills or demonstrate a willingness to develop proficiency in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) and listening and spoken language practices for DHH learners.
