Resource Recovery Supervisor

The Role: We are seeking a passionate and proactive Waste Recovery and Operations Supervisor to lead the operations at The Junction Zero Waste Hub. You will play a key role in promoting waste diversion, educating the community on sustainability practices such as upcycling, and fostering a positive environment that reflects WISE's values of environmental responsibility and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise daily operations at The Junction, ensuring a focus on waste diversion and promoting the recycling hierarchy.
Assist in efforts to educate the community on sustainable practices, with a particular emphasis on upcycling and resource recovery.
Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, community groups, and customers to further WISE's mission of sustainability.
Ensure all stock, compliance forms, and health and safety procedures are effectively managed and up to date.
Collaborate with marketing teams to promote store initiatives and engage the community in waste minimization efforts.
Provide monthly and quarterly reports on performance, including meeting contractual KPI's.
Mentor and train staff, fostering a positive work environment that emphasis teamwork and professional growth.
Maintain and implement health and safety policies to ensure a safe working environment for all staff and customers.
Skills and Experience:
A passion for the recycling hierarchy and waste diversion, with a strong focus on sustainability education and community outreach.
Proven leadership experience, with the ability to guide and inspire a team to meet operational goals.
Strong relationship-building skills and a customer service focus, ensuring that The Junction is a welcoming and supportive space for all.
Experience with the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and proven written and verbal communication skills.
Upcycling skillset preferred but not essential—creativity and a passion for reimagining resources are highly valued.
Electrical experience or knowledge could be beneficial, particularly for supporting e-waste diversion initiatives.
