Our vision: Nature is thriving in Aotearoa | Te Oranga o te Ao Turoa
The Department of Conservation Te Papa Atawhai (DOC) serves to protect and restore nature spaces and species across Aotearoa.
Tangata whenua are inextricably linked to the whenua and te taiao, and we desire a future where whanau, hapu and iwi can thrive in their role as rangatira and kaitiaki.
Fantastic opportunities are now available within the Resource Management Delivery team at DOC, to help achieve our vision. The locations for these roles are in our Hamilton, Christchurch or Dunedin offices. This is a national team and coordinates its functions across New Zealand.
We have three roles available:
Resource Management Planner
As a Resource Management Planner, you will be working with internal and external stakeholders and topic experts in resource management processes, including preparing submissions and attending hearings.
Senior Resource Management Planner
As a Senior Resource Management Planner, you will be working within and across resource management processes, often in complex situations, and mentor and provide assistance to others in your team and across DOC.
Team Lead, Resource Management Planning
As team lead, you will oversee and support team members and work closely with all members of the team and across DOC, manage workflow and outputs, keep an eye on influencing factors, and be a key member of the leadership team.
We are looking for motivated and passionate people with a planning background, or similar in consenting, policy or consultancy - with a genuine interest in working with others to help achieve great outcomes for conservation in the resource management area.
Key attributes we are looking for:
Resource Management Planner: some, or developing, planning experience and a sound understanding of resource management, with a desire to learn and develop your skills.
Senior Resource Management Planner: demonstrated planning experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to provide support to less experienced members of the team.
Team Lead, Resource Management Planning: demonstrated planning experience, relationship, project and people management skills, strong ability to foster enhanced team performance.
We are looking for people with an appropriate tertiary qualification in resource management, planning or similar, but above all people who feel inspired by and connected to our DOC vision.
DOC places importance on developing a culture where everyone can participate, thrive, and grow. We're working towards being an organisation that is diverse, equitable and inclusive by default.
If you require any accommodations or adjustments throughout the recruitment process, please do let us know.
Apply online with a CV and cover letter that highlights your relevant skills, experience and motivation for joining Te Papa Atawhai. Please specify in your covering letter your preferred location and position you wish to be considered for.
