We're working for Wellington. Wellington City Council's team provides more than 400 services every day for Wellingtonians - everything from parks and pools to consents and cemeteries - playing our part in making Poneke an inclusive, sustainable and creative capital for people to live, work and play. Come and join us as we work together for Wellington's future - kia mahi ngatahi mo Poneke mo tona apopo.
Resource Consents Team
Our Resource Consents team helps make development happen across the city, by processing resource consents and other approvals for proposals that don't meet rules in the District Plan. We have a positive team culture and we've hit the Council headlines for this! Being part of this team will also expose you to anything from the simple to the very, very complex. Think mum and dad additions and alterations, to large scale subdivisions, to high-rise buildings within the CBD; no one day is the same.
The Role
We have two positions available for Resource Consent Planners of various levels and experience to join us! As our Resource Consent Planner, you'll be a key advisor to our potential applicants at both the pre-application and processing stage of applications made under the Resource Management Act. You'll spend your time providing expert technical advice to customers around resource management best practice, compliance and the relevant legislation that is applicable in their case.
A role at Wellington City Council will give you exposure to many elements of how the RMA is applied in a practical setting, both land use and subdivision resource consents as well as the ability to become involved in complex resource management issues.
Along with the ability to be part of an inclusive and forward-thinking Council, you will also have benefits such as:
5 weeks annual leave
Flexible hours and working arrangements
In exchange for your skills, you'll work for an organisation that really values its people - we provide opportunities to be part of our leadership development programme and participate in a number of learning programmes.
The starting salary for these roles depends on level and experience but broadly range from:
Intermediate: $88,000
Senior: $103,000
So Who Are We Looking For?
You'll bring a relevant tertiary degree in planning, resource management, surveying or equivalent along with proven experience in planning or resource consents. You'll need to have a practical understanding of relevant legislation, excellent communication skills and a strong customer focus. Your transition would be even smoother if you also come with local government experience, but we definitely don't expect it.
If you are interested by what's on offer around flexibility, variety and a place to grow your skills, then don't delay and apply now!
