Te Tawharau o Te Whakatohea is situated in Opotiki, a coastal town in the sunny Bay of Plenty.Previously to our recent settlement process in 2024, Te Tawharau o Te Whakatohea was known as The Whakatohea Maori Trust Board, established in 1952. It is an exciting time to be a part of our continued success story.Te aheinga - The opportunity:To provide culturally safe, holistic nursing care within a kaupapa Maori framework to residents undergoing methamphetamine rehabilitation. The Residential Nurse will play a vital role in supporting the physical, mental, and spiritual health of residents, integrating Maori values and practices in all aspects of care.Conduct comprehensive health assessments upon admission and regularly throughout the resident's stay.Administer medications and treatments in accordance with best practices and relevant guidelines.Monitor residents for withdrawal symptoms, manage medical emergencies, and provide appropriate interventions.Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all clinical activities.Deliver care that is consistent with tikanga Maori, incorporating Maori Health models such as Te Whare Tapa Wha or Ki te whai ao, ki te ao marama.Engage with Whanau in the care process, respecting and integrating their input and cultural values.Work closely with other health professionals, including addictions specialists, social workers, and counsellors to provide comprehensive care.Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to enhance the quality of care.Minimum Requirements:Current New Zealand Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with a current Annual Practising Certificate.Experience in addiction, mental health, or community nursing is highly desirable.Knowledge of kaupapa Maori principles and practices, with a commitment to working within a Maori framework.Effective communication and people skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents and whanau.Competence in Te Reo Maori and an understanding of Maori culture is an advantage but not essential.Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.Ability to work flexible hours, including on-call weekends and evenings if required.Holds a full and clean current New Zealand or relevant driver's license.If your skills and experience match this role, please APPLY NOW!
