Head Medical is seeking post foundation doctors (RMO/SHO/CT) for Orthopaedics opportunities. You will be based at Whakatane hospital in the stunning Bay of Plenty region. Only 1 hr drive to Tauranga (NZ's fastest growing city) Beautiful natural surroundings– white sandy beaches, native forest & birds, dolphins and orcas Salary: $110,710 - $121,920 NZD (depending on experience) The Hospital There are two hospitals in the region, Whakatane hospital has 110 beds, and Tauranga Hospital with 359 beds. Together, the two sites cater to a regional population of 230,000 and the emergency department sees in the region of 73,669 attendances per year. Working closely with consultants, you will also attend clinical meetings with opportunities to further broaden your clinical knowledge and gain exposure to a broad case load. There is a focus on Maori health and a strong commitment to closing the gaps and reducing health inequalities by re-designing pathways with Maori (who make up 25.6% of the region's population), to promote better access to healthcare services. The Location Whakatane (town population 37,100, Eastern Bay of Plenty population 50,500) and the neighbouring township of Ohope offer a warm, relaxed lifestyle with over 50 km of coastline to enjoy and explore. Located just 1 hour's drive from Tauranga City and 3.5 hours from Auckland, the region features some of the best beaches in NZ, such as Ohope, Pukehina and Ohiwa as well as Mount Maunganui and Papamoa further up the coast. The warm and sunny climate makes it ideal for those who love the great outdoors and the beach life. There is a domestic airport with daily flights to Auckland's international airport, making connections to/from Whakatane very easy (45 minutes).
