January/ February 2025 commencement Salary Range NZD $106,672 - NZD $133,842 (depending on experience) The Hospital There are two hospitals in the region, Whakatane hospital has 110 beds, and Tauranga Hospital with 359 beds.
The Medical Service provides specialist services across the Bay of Plenty district, which incorporates two hospital sites in Tauranga and Whakatane (1 hour drive down the coast), delivering general internal medicine inpatient and outpatient services, plus a range of subspecialty services, to a population of approx.
260,000.
This role will be based at Tauranga Hospital (359 bed, Level 2 Hospital).
This position will provide exposure to comprehensive general gynaecology, antenatal and intra partum care.
The department comprises 10 Consultant Obstetrics & Gynaecologists, one Senior Registrar, two Registrars and 8 SHO's.
There is a focus on Maori health and a strong commitment to closing the gaps and reducing health inequalities by re-designing pathways with Maori (who make up 25.6% of the region's population), to promote better access to healthcare services.
The Location Tauranga is now the 5th largest city in New Zealand with an urban population of 151,300 (regionally 255,102) and is only a 2.5 hour drive south of Auckland.
