The purpose of this role is to provide technical support for scientists leading research to measure and mitigate farm and urban greenhouse gas emissions, investigate ways to maintain and increase carbon stocks in trees and soil, and measure nitrogen leaching from farms.
This position is permanent, full time, reports to Capability Leader, Land Use and Ecosystems, and is based at our Lincoln site.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical support for greenhouse gas emissions research.
Conduct laboratory and field measurements of carbon and nutrients in plants and soils.
Analyze data and interpret results related to carbon stocks and nitrogen leaching.

Travel throughout New Zealand as required.
Minimum Requirements:
You will possess a relevant post-graduate qualification, trade certificate, or technical qualifications in soil/plant or agricultural sciences or engineering. You will have some experience in laboratory and field measurements of carbon and nutrients in plants and soils, conducting fieldwork, and data analysis. Understanding of New Zealand's farming systems and methods to measure greenhouse gas emissions and plant and soil carbon and nutrient cycling are required. A full driving license is essential, and some experience in operating field equipment will be an advantage.
As an employee of Manaaki Whenua - Landcare Research, you will work with passionate and talented people and enjoy supportive employee benefits such as an annual leave entitlement of 4 weeks and 4 days, generous sick leave, paid parental leave, and flexible working options. You will also have the opportunity for personal growth and career development.
