As the Research Lead | Kaiarahi Tira Rangahau you will be responsible for people leadership, technical leadership, and leading the development, delivery, and operational oversight of research service for the Library's customers – with a particular focus on our services to Select Committees and House Services. You'll play a pivotal role in leading and fostering a high performing, collaborative team with a focus on exceptional customer service through the provision of relevant and timely information, a quality assurance programme, and continuous service improvement.

The Parliamentary Library and Engagement Group | Te Pataka Rangahau, te Whakapapatanga supports Parliament through the provision of trusted library, information, research, and engagement services to members of Parliament, parliamentary staff, parliamentary agencies, and the public.
The Research Services team delivers tailored, high-quality research to Parliament members, committees, staff, and the community. They manage customer service, handle research requests promptly, provide briefings and reports on topics of interest to Parliament, and promote the Library's services and products.
Mo te tunga | About the role:
Foster a collaborative team culture focused on excellence and continuous improvement.
Lead, coach, mentor and develop direct reports, supporting them with a clear vision, direction and priorities, and empowering them to deliver high-quality, impartial research and analysis to the Library's customers.
Contribute to the strategic direction of the Research Services team ensuring that work stream activities align with and contribute to team and organisational priorities and aspirations.
Develop our research service to Select Committees, collaboratively developing strategies and setting priorities that enhance support to the functions of committees.
Provide technical leadership for the team through expert advice on research best practice, motivating and guiding the team towards shared goals.

Demonstrated ability to role model organisational values and motivate others to do the same.
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
A strategic mindset, with demonstrated ability to develop and communicate a clear vision and direction.
Experience managing and leading change, inspiring people to think outside the box, be agile and resilient.
Solid analytical and research skills across a range of policy areas and topics relevant to parliament.
In-depth knowledge of the parliamentary process, public policy, and the public sector would be ideal.
