Fixed term Part time (0.6 FTE) position

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
We are looking for someone with a nursing background to assist our Clinical Trials Manager with our current projects, specifically for an HRC project grant in the Adult and Emergency Anaesthesia Department at Auckland City Hospital.
Your job will consist of identification and recruitment of patients, including approaching acute and elective patients, to discuss the study, providing a cohesive and patient-focused explanation of the clinical trial; ensuring their understanding of their participation in the project, as well as intra-operative and post-operative management protocols are adhered to, co-ordination of follow-up of patients after they leave hospital, and ensuring trial compliance with regulatory authorities. The position is part time for 12 months and will include some out of hours work, covering on-call and weekends where necessary.

You will be a qualified nurse with the ability to assimilate and analyse information quickly. Ideally, you will have an acute clinical background, with a comprehensive understanding of neurosurgical and interventional neurology, as well as recent experience in carrying out research activities including data analysis, critical appraisal, and clinical audits will be ideal but not necessary, along with an understanding of the government's health policy and the Treaty of Waitangi. Strong communication and interpersonal skills will be an asset, and familiarity with basic Excel and word processing and use of the internet is essential.
