Office of the Provost
Term length: fixed-term
Hours of work: full-time

Position Overview

The Riddet Institute is a world-best research centre in food and nutritional sciences, providing fundamental scientific understanding and training for a new generation of science leaders. The Institute integrates partner organisations (Massey University (host), Auckland and Otago Universities, AgResearch and Plant & Food Research) and disciplines, leading a "NZ Inc" approach to food research, and generates knowledge and capability that transforms the New Zealand food industry.

As the Research Technician, you will support research across the Riddet Institute Centre of Excellence (CoRE) programme and a Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) funded project. The research work will entail a wide range of laboratory analysis and technical support and will involve the physical and techno-functional characterisation of new protein-rich and protein-depleted plant-based materials. You will have recently completed a bachelor's or master's degree in food science, food technology or a related subject. We are looking for a well-organised, highly motivated, energetic person, who has a willingness to learn new laboratory techniques. Working within the Riddet Institute, you will join a supportive environment and enthusiastic technical team.

This is a 1.0 FTE position for approximately nine months to cover a period of Parental Leave and will be located at the Riddet Institute on the Massey University campus in Palmerston North.
