The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Assistant for 'Versatile and scalable single-cell preimplantation genetic testing for chromosomal aneuploidy and segmental imbalances with / without concurrent Mendelian mutation detection using third-generation single-molecule sequencing' in the Department of Paediatrics, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
The Department of Paediatrics is committed to the advancement of paediatric scientific research in Singapore and the Southeast Asia region.
The department's key research areas include cancer, genetics, immunology, metabolic diseases, and cardiac health, as well as studies on disease trends, health outcomes, and neurocognitive development problems.
The appointment will be made on a one-year contract basis, with the possibility of extension.
Purpose of the Post The Research Assistant will be responsible for, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator and study team members to ensure the successful completion of the study on time.
The Research Assistant's principal role will be to conduct wet-laboratory experiments, data collection, and analysis, including related safety & health performances.
Main Duties and Responsibilities Oversee the general management of the project;Undertake the day-to-day running of the project and provide wet-laboratory and data analysis support, including the development and troubleshooting of bioinformatics pipelines for next-generation sequencing data analysis;Provide administrative research support, including organizing meetings to maintain regular communication with members of the research team and managing safety & health of research activities;Conduct literature searches using PubMed for analysis and comparison of study results, and assist in preparing both progress and final reports of the project;Establish and implement relevant safety & health procedures related to study processes;Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record-keeping in accordance with policies and procedures;Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the Principal Investigator.Qualifications Have a first degree with good results or hold a Bachelor's degree in life sciences, biotechnology, or related disciplines;Be able to work independently and in a team, possess an investigative nature, and have attention to detail;Have knowledge of computer applications, e.g., Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint);Have experience in the molecular genetics areas of research, e.g., polymerase chain reaction, next-generation sequencing, etc.Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
