Councils and their mana whenua partners come together to develop a bilingual strategy for their centre and to create more spaces, places and opportunities where te reo Maori is seen, heard and celebrated alongside the English language.
This fixed term (6 months) role will be instrumental in advancing the Murupara Reorua Rautaki (Bilingual Strategy) in collaboration with Te Runanga o Ngati Manawa (TRONM).
Additionally, it will involve reviewing the Whakatane Reorua Rautaki to explore opportunities for further collaboration or implementation with Te Runanga o Ngati Awa (TRONA).
You will lead project planning, execution, reporting and monitoring while fostering effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities to promote te reo Maori.
Some of the key tasks for this role include: Lead and coordinate all facets for the project.Identify WDC current and future projects that have the potential to promote and integrate te reo Maori in the Murupara community and work with project leaders to incorporate.Collaborate with Te Runanga o Ngati Manawa and stakeholders to define and refine project.Review Whakatane Reorua Rautaki to determine project status and plan forward.
Work with WDC Iwi relationship lead and Te Runanga o Ngati Awa to further project.Develop and implement project schedules, milestones and deliverables.Provide reporting to Council, DIA and Council Committees on project progress.Evaluate project outcomes.Ko wai koe | About you To be successful in this role you will be fluent in te reo Maori and have a demonstrated understanding of Te Reo me ona tikanga and matauranga Maori.
You'll be agile and adaptable and have strong problem solving and analytical capabilities.
You'll have exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and persuade and you will naturally have a collaborative mindset.
You will also have a strong understanding of working within a political, legislative and regulatory environment.
Experience in Local Government would be an asset.
