A little about us…
Power Electronics NZ is a wholly locally owned company that specialises in the supply of world leading inverters in the form of utility scale solar inverters, utility scale battery energy storage inverters, variable speed drives (AC motor control), active harmonic filters (AHF), electronic power factor correction (Static VAR Generators – SVG, and electric vehicle (EV) charging systems.
We've been in this market for 21+ years, with many of our staff being with us for more than 10 years. In that time we have sold into a huge variety of industry sectors including electrical contractors, solar developers, power generators, mining, local councils, irrigation, timber processing, marine, food processing, commercial building, electrical network companies just to name a few. We even have product with the NZ military.
This is all pretty cool product, with each product range the technology leader within its market sector. Our customers demand robust, precise product backed up by high levels of technical support and service. This is exactly what Power Electronics NZ provides and is renowned for.
A little about who we're looking for…
Support – it's all about people. Our customers are looking for that person who is prepared to stand up and be counted when they need a hand – if you're happy with people interaction then that's a great start. We believe that the best support people in our field are industrial electricians or electrical engineers with solid practical experience. Our preference would be for someone who has service experience within power electronic devices, is familiar with the power generation industry, and has experience in industrial servicing and maintenance.
If you are an industrial electrician with experience in service/breakdowns and maintenance then you too should consider this role. We can teach you about servicing inverters. If this sounds like you, then we might well have the ideal role that will provide you a great future in the power electronics industry.
You will have a New Zealand Electrical Registration and current Electrical Practicing Licence.
The renewables support role…
We have a role for a motivated Renewables Support Technician, based in either our Hawkes Bay or Christchurch office, who is keen to be helping customers maintain and build relationships across the Utility Renewable and Utility Power Quality industries. You will deliver real impact through the support of our high performance and efficient inverter power solutions.
We are leading the charge of the supply of utility scale Solar, Battery Energy Storage, and Statcom inverters to the Renewables and Electricity Energy Infrastructure within New Zealand and this is what you will be supporting. In this sector our customers range from private developers, through to Electrical Network Companies and Gentailers, and are spread right across the country. With a solid existing installation base, and a pipeline of projects to supply and commission in 2025/2026, we now need to expand our support team to deliver the best in customer service.
The variety is huge. You can be working on providing phone support for a customer setting up a new inverter, followed by the next call to visit a site who needs a 4MW inverter repaired, or standing in switchyard site commissioning a plant over Ethernet.
Your journey with us will encompass:
Learning our product range
Technical training with our engineering and service team on Utility Scale Solar, BESS and Statcom inverters.
Learning about serial communication systems that interface with our equipment, and the various software tools that we have available to help you and the customers
Working alongside our other highly skilled salespeople and support staff
We will grow you and coach you into a position where you will have your own niche of the customer support area of the business to look after. There will be a requirement for out-of-town travel based on out of town project commissioning and breakdown support.
