Remote senior policy planner Purpose of the position: The role of the Senior Policy Planner encompasses overseeing policy elements within the framework of the Resource Management Act 1991. With a primary focus on shaping the District Plan, this position requires adept leadership and guidance in adapting to regulatory shifts while ensuring the continued functionality and integrity of the plan. As a senior leadership role, it entails providing direction and mentorship to the team, exemplifying leadership through actions. The Senior Policy Planner collaborates closely with the Team Leader – District Planning, offering assistance and support, and directly reports to that position. What the role entails: Develop and implement policies, plans, and strategies under the Resource Management Act, higher-order planning instruments, and the Local Government Act, with a primary focus on the District Plan. Conducts public consultations on behalf of the Council regarding policy matters. Maintains a high standard of customer service in policy development, engaging with various stakeholders and coordinating with internal and external entities. Mentors staff on policy development issues for their professional growth. Contributes input to strategies, plans, and bylaws within the Planning & Policy Group's scope. Manages contracts and consultants as necessary for duty fulfilment.
