Make a difference Ko te turanga mahi | About the role We are passionate about increasing the participation of Maori staff and akonga - students at all levels of study at MIT and we value the communities that these akonga come from.
Reporting to the Director Maori Education, this role will work within Te Tari Matauranga Maori: Maori Education office (Marae Team) on managing our relationships within the institute and across the communities we serve with a specific focus on mana-whenua.
The overarching objective of the role is to manage our relationships with key stakeholders in a way that contributes to Maori student completion, retention, and progression rates and promotes MIT as a leading vocational tertiary education provider.
Established in 1970, Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) (Te Whare Takiura o Manukau) has been serving akonga and the communities of South Auckland for over fifty years.
Our Kaupapa is providing vocational education that puts akonga in the centre.
We are on a journey, and this role is crucial to that journey.
Moku ake | About you: Ideally, you have an undergraduate degree and Post Grad qualifications and experience working with Maori.Proficiency in Te reo Maori and previous working experience with Maori and education sector environment.To be successful in this position, you will need to have strong interpersonal and coordination skills combined with the ability to relate to a wide range of people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures in a helpful and sensitive manner.When you work for MIT, you become a member of an innovative and passionate team.
