Relationship Manager - Gifts in Wills (0.6FTE) We are looking ideally for an experienced Relationship Manager – Gifts in Wills to join our fundraising team at the Wellington City Mission (WCM).
It is an exciting time to be joining WCM! In November, we will be moving into Whakamaru, our latest building development in Mt Cook that will reshape the way we support Wellingtonians in need and empower them towards fullness of life.
About the role
Reporting to the Philanthropy Manager, this is a part-time (0.6 FTE) role that is part of our wider successful and supportive Fundraising and Relationship Team.
With both strategic and hands-on responsibilities, while ensuring a mutual understanding and identification of shared goals and vision for the work of WCM with our potential future donors you will:
Contribute to the development and implementation of a Gifts in Wills Strategy
Build new and maintain existing long-term strategic bequest donor relationships
Identify and cultivate bequest prospects
Contribute to achieving the overall philanthropy and wider fundraising team targets
Help organise and participate in fundraising events
Provide support for the wider team and their fundraising objectives
About you
You may well have much of the experience identified below, but if you haven't and are outstanding at building relationships we would still love to hear from you. You will be provided with extensive support to develop the necessary skills.
Ideally you will have worked in an environment with a focus on raising funds and bring a solid understanding and proven experience in:
Building strong relationships using a variety of channels
Communicating in a genuine and optimistic manner with colleagues and stakeholders
Using initiative and continually seeking to improve efficiency and effectiveness
Maintaining effective and relevant database records
Understanding and evidencing care and appreciation for our Wellington community
You will also be able to show alignment to our organisational values of Aroha / Love, Whanaungatanga / Kinship, Tumanako / Hope, Manaakitanga / Generosity.

Wellington City Mission has just celebrated 120 years of working in, and for, the Wellington Community. We help people in need by providing transitional housing, social work and addiction support, financial mentoring, food, and somewhere to come for company. We can only do what we do because we have a team of more than 200 capable and committed people working with us!
Having almost completed the capital campaign to fund Whakamaru, our wide-ranging services will require ongoing funding to ensure we are able to continue to bring transformation, empowerment, and fullness of life to Wellingtonians in need.
