'Kotahi ano te kaupapa, ko te oranga o te iwi' – 'There is only one purpose to our work: the wellness and wellbeing of our people.We seek a committed individual to undertake the permanent part-time Reintegration Co-ordinator role working 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday.Tai Aroha is an intensive specialist residential rehabilitation treatment programme for high-risk community-based offenders (residents). It offers a real opportunity for residents to make meaningful changes to their lives. Based on the principles of Therapeutic Community and Tikanga Maori practices, this is a unique facility within our environment. Tai Aroha aims to provide:A therapeutic environment for those in our careA pro-social and culturally responsive treatment programmeAn opportunity for those in our care to acquire or improve work and social skillsMo te tunga | About the roleThe key function of the Reintegration Co-ordinator position is to provide quality reintegration services. This includes contributing to the development of work and life skills of residents through pro-social modelling and coaching, organising and supervising activities such as job searching, securing accommodation, obtaining suitable identification including a driver's license, and supporting residents to open bank accounts and register with medical providers. The role also involves providing 100 days of post-programme support upon completion or graduation of the programme.Key requirements include:Ability to operate effectively in a Maori cultural environment, demonstrating knowledge and understanding of Tikanga principles/practices and having a good command of te reo language.Ability to establish relationships with Iwi and Hapu to support residents reconnecting with these agencies.Strong problem-solving, team building, and influencing skills.Ability to model pro-social behaviour and represent the therapeutic community positively.Objective, non-judgemental approach to residents, demonstrating empathy while upholding rules and regulations.A full driver's license is essential; a current first aid certificate is desirable.Ara Poutama Aotearoa is committed to improving the oranga and safety of the people and communities we serve across the motu.As a values-led organisation, we use the principles of rangatira (leadership), manaaki (respect), wairua (spirituality), kaitiaki (guardianship), and whanau (relationships) to shape how we work and deliver outcomes in our strategy - Hokai Rangi.To apply, please submit a tailored CV and a cover letter (PDF) describing your motivation for applying for this role, highlighting relevant skills and experience.
