Mo te turanga | About the role
Fully staffed with trained General Physicians, many of whom are also qualified in various subspecialties.
Medical patients are admitted to General Medicine, ensuring excellent breadth and depth of exposure to a wide range of medical conditions.
We maintain care for acutely unwell patients, including those requiring ICU admission, allowing advanced trainees to satisfy the high acuity requirement of their training.
Opportunity for exposure to ambulatory work within onsite subspecialties provided by dual trained General Physicians, including Cardiology, Respiratory, Endocrinology, Nephrology, and Gastroenterology.
All other medical subspecialties are covered by visiting consultants from Dunedin Hospital, providing ample time and opportunity to nurture subspecialty interests alongside General Medicine experience.
Mou ake | About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or eligibility for general or provisional general registration.
Medical Registrar experience is preferred, but RMOs with a minimum of one year's post-qualification experience and good exposure to general medical runs can apply.
It is a requirement of the NZ Medical Council that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you are committed to working in New Zealand, it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible for timely registration.

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the New Zealand Resident Doctors' Association & 20 DHB Multi Employer Collective 17 May 2021 - 31 March 2024 (NZRDA MECA) and Specialty Trainees of New Zealand and Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand RMO Collective Agreement 14 February 2024 - 28 February 2026. The salary will fall between $124,892 - $240,440, dependent on relevant experience.
