Mo te turanga | About the role

Close-knit team that consists of Specialists, Trainees, and those not yet on the training programme.
Your main responsibilities will be ensuring the acute stream of patients are seen and assessed – this enables you to become confident with a wide variety of ophthalmic conditions - the opportunities on offer are immense.
You'll also be assisting with some injections, and hopefully get some time in our new, purpose-built eye theatre, which is off site from the main hospital, but very close by.
The ability to extend your skills and knowledge base are fantastic.

Mou ake | About you
Our ideal candidate will have:

Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience and are interested in RMO's keen to further develop your skills in the area of Ophthalmology and need to have Registrar experience in this field to be able to apply for the training programme.

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of New Zealand Resident Doctors' Association & 20 DHB Multi Employer Collective 18 June 2024 - 31 July 2026 (NZRDA SECA) and Specialty Trainees of New Zealand and 20 District Health Boards Multi Employer Collective Agreement 14 February 2024 – 28 February 2026 (the STONZ SECA) and the salary will fall between $127,338 - $190,030 dependent on relevant experience.
