There are a number of opportunities in A8 to develop specialised skills including advanced wound care, working in the autonomous acute stroke nurse role, and in the progressive care unit.
A8 is a unique ward accommodating both the Acute Stroke Unit and Vascular Surgery specialties. We are a passionate and dynamic team who support a diverse patient group, as well as each other.
Currently, there are 24 inpatient ward beds, and recently 4 new progressive care beds have opened. These provide intermediate level nursing for both stroke and vascular patients.
You will be well supported by the senior nursing team which comprises a Charge Nurse Manager, Nurse Educator, Stroke Clinical Nurse Specialist, and a Vascular Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Ko wai koe - About You
We are looking for energetic nurses who are eager to strengthen and develop their skills in these specialty areas, working on the ward with the best views across Christchurch in Waipapa.
Advanced critical thinking with exceptional patient assessment
Excellent interpersonal skills
Previous surgical experience preferred; however, experience working in other acute specialties will be considered.
Experience in wound management and high acuity nursing desirable
