Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whanau-centred care, and excellence.About the roleBased in the Community Nursing Service at Wakari Hospital, the role of Registered Nurse-Stomal Therapist is both busy and challenging but also extremely rewarding. The position involves providing community nursing care. Some of the key nursing tasks are: comprehensive patient assessment; symptom control and management; patient education; psychosocial assessment and support.Come and join our friendly and supportive team. A comprehensive orientation will be given.About youTo be successful in this role you will have a genuine interest in patients undergoing bowel surgery with excellent communication skills to educate patients and families. You will have a willingness to learn and a desire to undergo post-grad training in relation to stomal therapy.You will demonstrate organisational skills, adaptability, and flexibility within the role. Be able to prioritise and reprioritise daily tasks according to the workload, work well autonomously and within the team in this specialised service.We're looking for a Registered Nurse with three years or more post grad experience, you will also have the following:A current New Zealand Registration and APCStrong communication skills and the ability to quickly develop a rapport with patients and their whanau/family.Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExperience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settingsHow to applyTo view the position description and/or apply for the role please click 'apply now'.
