About the RoleWe are looking for skilled registered nurses who are highly experienced in orthopaedic operating theatres to join our Theatre Nursing team at Waikato Hospital.
We have a number of fixed-term opportunities to cover parental leave as well as permanent vacancies.
As a major trauma centre, Waikato Hospital orthopaedic service provides care to both emergency and planned care patients.
You will have the chance to work in interesting and challenging orthopaedic cases.

Previous experience in orthopaedic operating theatres is essential.
About the ServiceThe Theatre and Anaesthesia department at Waikato Hospital is comprised of 22 Operating Theatres, a Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit and Day of Surgery Admission Unit.
A wide range of surgical specialties include General Surgery, Vascular, Cardiac, Urology, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Plastics, Paediatrics, Delivery Suite, Gynaecology, Maxillofacial and more.
About YouSkills and experience you'll need to be considered for the role:
Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth3-5 years' previous nursing experience in orthopaedic operating theatres in a large tertiary level hospitalSound understanding of orthopaedic instruments, equipment, and surgical protocolsDemonstrated knowledge of infection prevention and sterile techniques in an operating room environmentExcellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with surgeons, anaesthetists, patients, and theatre staffEnthusiasm and commitment in a changing environmentCurrent APC & eligibility to work in New ZealandWorking for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
