Inpatient Unit - Alexandra Hospital, Richmond
About this position: Inviting Registered nurse to join the Older Person Mental Health Team in a fulfilling permanent position at Alexandra Hospital, starting as soon as possible.
This role offers you a rewarding opportunity to work within a dedicated multidisciplinary team, delivering compassionate and comprehensive services to older patients with mental health conditions with a focus on well-being and improving quality of life for our patients and their families.
You will be available to work all shifts (morning, afternoon and night shift) as rostered with no on-call duties, allowing you to maintain a work-life balance while making a meaningful contribution to patient care.
The Older Persons - Mental Health Inpatient Unit, at Alexandra Hospital in Richmond, provides psychiatric and geriatric care and support to the older population of our community.
We aim to provide high quality inpatient care to patients with acute mental health needs and/or complex age-related health conditions. We work in partnership with our patients and their families to achieve the best possible health outcome for the patients.
We also work closely with other healthcare providers and supports to ensure a holistic and patient-centered approach to mental health care.

Who is an appropriate applicant? You will have current NCNZ registration and practising certificate, with no conditions that exclude Mental Health Scope of Practice, and a minimum of one year's post-registration nursing experience in mental health nursing, preferably with older persons. You will have knowledge of:
Physical and mental disorders commonly experienced in older persons
Contemporary treatment approaches including person-centred care, sensory modulation, therapeutic use of self and therapeutic use of psychiatric medications
Mental Health assessment and care planning
Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act, 1992
PPPR Act - Welfare Guardianship.

Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and handle challenging situations with empathy to deliver patient-centred care.
