Awarua Whanau Services deliver Kaupapa Maori services that support individuals and whanau (families) to achieve their social, health, and educational well-being outcomes. Our services are offered in Rakiura (Stewart Island), Bluff, Invercargill, Otago, and surrounding areas.
We have an exciting opportunity for Registered Nurses to join our Te Kakanoa Nurse Led Community Outreach service across Southland.
About the Role - Mo te tunga
The Registered Nurse is responsible for establishing a therapeutic partnership with whanau through whakawhanaungatanga (establishing trusting relationships), clinical assessment, intervention, care planning, follow-up, and education through the delivery of nurse outreach services in various community settings. You will promote and deliver matauranga Maori and clinical models of practice to reduce health inequities of hapori Maori (Maori communities). As our Registered Nurse, we will support you on the Nurse Practitioner pathway should this be a career goal you aspire to achieve.
Minimum Requirements:
Registered Nurse with current NCNZ practicing certificate, preferably with vaccinator and cervical screening qualifications.
A desire to engage in the pathway to become a Nurse Practitioner.
Comfortable with tikanga (correct Maori protocols), Te Reo Maori (Maori language), delivery of matauranga Maori models (Maori based knowledge approaches), and building meaningful relationships with individuals and their whanau (family).
Able to demonstrate a high level of personal integrity.
Full NZ driver's license.
You will be supported with clinical supervision, training, and development opportunities to enhance your skills as a Registered Nurse and/or become a Nurse Practitioner. A mobile phone, laptop, and access to a fleet vehicle are included with this role.
