About the role Ward 9A at Wakari Hospital is a 15-bed medium secure inpatient unit for Otago and Southland for those persons who are in the Justice system and require assessment, treatment and rehabilitation.
Full complement of a multidisciplinary team delivers a range of therapeutic services and programmes in this settingStrong emphasis on linking people with families/whanau and support persons and reintegration into the wider communityWork in a secure environment predominantly with patients referred from the courts and/or prison setting for assessment and/or treatmentProvide a rehabilitative role in assisting patients with complex needs to reintegrate into the communityCollaborate in a safe environment and plan care that meets individual needsMaintain links with family and friends whose on-going support and input is often of vital importance to the provision of careAbout you You must be a New Zealand Registered Nurse, with a current APC and mental health sector experience or an interest in Mental Health.

Our ideal candidate will: Have Mental Health experience or Comprehensive Registered NurseHold current NZ registration and an Annual Practising Certificate (APC)Hold a full driver's licenceHave competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthHave experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.Working for Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
