Korero mo te turanga - About the role We are looking for enthusiastic, innovative and committed registered nurses with a passion or desire to work in a specialised area of Mental Health to join the team at Purehurehu Forensic Inpatient Unit. We aim to facilitate recovery by employing a holistic array of interventions to help people progress in their recovery, guided by the ethos of therapeutic environmental, relational and procedure security.
We offer an MDT approach to specialised assessment and care for adults who are admitted through the courts of prisons.
We work within a framework of clinical governance and are a progressive service committed to providing a culture of ongoing professional development for staff through regular supervision, an excellent professional development and recognition programme (PDRP), regular in-service training and support towards external training.
Mo to matou ropu - About our team Purehurehu and Rangipapa are the two Medium Secure Adult Forensic Units. Operating a 24 hour service at Ratonga Rua Hospital Campus. Purehurehu is a 15 bed male unit, that provides treatment, assessment and rehabilitation for tangata whaiora / consumers who are required to undergo psychiatric assessment prior to a court hearing and also for consumers committed to a Mental Health Facility under the Criminal Procedures (Mentally Impaired Persons) Act 2003 or Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 1992.
Mou - About you We are looking for innovative and committed Registered Nurses. We welcome those with Mental Health and / or Forensic experience and / or those who express a genuine desire and passion to work in Forensic Mental Health Services.
Essential Professional Qualification / Accreditation's / Registrations: Registration with the NCNZ as an RN A current practising certificate Active involvement and progression along the PDRP. Successful completion of the NESP (Nurse Entry to Specialised Practice) or equivalent or working towards this.
