Registered Midwife (Core)
Maternity Services
Te Whatu Ora - South Canterbury (Timaru Hospital)
Full time or Part time roles available
Life is a collection of small moments: meaningful moments, challenging moments, moments to remember. At Te Whatu Ora South Canterbury, we want to support our people to enjoy more of the moments that matter.
Are you ready to join us?
Right now, we're looking for a Midwife for our maternity service that provides primary and secondary care to women in South Canterbury.
This is hands-on midwifery work; we see around 600 births a year, ranging from normal and low-risk to complex and high-needs.
You'll provide ward-based antenatal and postnatal care, and attend births. There's also a certain amount of administration work, with admissions, discharges, and patient notes, and you might sometimes need to accompany patients to larger tertiary hospitals.
Welcome to a better career. In our smaller unit, you're a midwife, a support person, and an advocate for the women and babies in your care.
You'll understand the emotional highs and lows that come with this transformative time of their lives, and be able to develop a relationship where they trust and connect with you.
This is a role for a midwife with high professional standards, who wants to provide a service you're proud of.
You'll be well-supported by the rest of the staff. Our teams are self-led, which means that changes are made by people on the floor, not in offices.
We're a collaborative team that works closely to make sure our patients get the best outcomes, and that our work environment is the best you could wish for.
As part of our 24/7 roster, you can expect to work some nights, where there are other responsibilities, such as cleaning delivery suites.
The core team at night also doesn't include an obstetrician, so you'll need to quickly be able to read a situation and make a fast decision about whether calling one in is indicated.
Why choose Te Whatu Ora South Canterbury
Integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect, and excellence are at the heart of everything we do. We are a proudly diverse team, as we know a diverse and inclusive workforce achieves the best outcomes for our patients and communities.
If you share in these core values and bring them into every aspect of your patient care, we can't wait for you to join us.
If you want to join our Jean Todd team and make the most of the opportunity we have to offer, apply now!
This moment is yours!
