Right now, we're looking for a Midwife for our maternity service thatprovides primary and secondary care to womenin South Canterbury.
This is hands-on midwifery work; we see around 600 birthsa year, ranging from normal and low-risk to complex and high-needs.
You'll provide ward-basedantenatal and postnatal care, and attend births. There's also a certain amountof administration work, with admissions, discharges, and patient notes, and youmight sometimes need to accompany patients to larger tertiary hospitals.
W elcome to a better career. In our smaller unit, you're a midwife, asupport person, and an advocate for the women and babies in your care.
You'llunderstand the emotional highs and lows that come with this transformative timeof their lives, and be able to develop a relationship where they trust andconnect with you.
This is a role for a midwife with high professionalstandards, who wants to provide a service you're proud of.
You'll be well-supported by therest of the staff. Our teams are self-led, which means that changes are made bypeople on the floor, not in offices.
We're a collaborative team that worksclosely to make sure our patients get the best outcomes, and that our workenvironment is the best you could wish for.
As part of our 24 / 7 roster youcan expect to work some nights, where there are other responsibilities, such ascleaning delivery suites.
The core team at night also doesn't include anobstetrician, so you'll need to quickly be able to read a situation and make afast decision about whether calling one in is indicated.
