An exciting opportunity to join the Sport Manawatu team as a Regional Sports Director (RSD).
If you are looking to work in a modern, innovative, and interesting environment where no two days are the same, then this could be for you.The key purpose of the Regional Sports Director (RSD) is to grow, support and maintain the provision of quality sporting experiences for secondary school students.
The RSD will have mana and credibility in the secondary schools environment, and a strong understanding of the opportunities sport offers to schools.More rangatahi participating in secondary school sport is the outcome this role is working towards.
This will be achieved through four focused areas:Competition management and delivery.Supporting the school sport workforce and leadership.Using insights to meet the changing needs of rangatahi.Leveraging existing good practice in sport development for the benefit of schools.This position would suit an individual with the following experience and skills:3 - 5 years' experience in the sports and/or education sector with demonstrated experience and proven leadership skills in leading a diverse range of stakeholders.Proven ability to work individually and collaboratively as part of a wider team to develop and deliver on outcomes driven accountabilities.Demonstrated ability to develop and manage relationships, communicate with a wide cross-section of organisations including individuals in a positive and constructive manner.Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with efficiency.Considerable experience in creating and implementing participation and/or development initiatives for young people.Knowledge and understanding of the inequities which exist for rangatahi and whanau to participate in sport.An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi would be preferred.Excellent knowledge and proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel, Word and Outlook).Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise work.Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.This is a full-time permanent position based in our Palmerston North office but works across the whole Sport Manawatu area.
