Have you worked within Tiriti work planning spaces?As our Regional Planner, you will be at the heart of crafting and executing strategic plans that integrate our biodiversity, heritage, and visitor, treaty and community priorities within the Eastern North Island. You will work closely across the region to ensure annual planning supports long-term outcomes while also providing essential support and advice to the region supporting our Operations team, Eastern North Island Director, and wider regional leadership cohort.The position will be focused on:Providing functional advice with a focus on visitor and heritage while integrating planning alongside other functions - Biodiversity, Tiriti, and Community.Problem-solving with a solution-focused mindset.Providing advice and working to support functional groups (Visitor, Biodiversity, Heritage, Tiriti) to establish organizational priority uptake across the region and ensure regional context is driven to deliver on making a difference.Overseeing performance reporting and providing assurance on progress towards targets.Contributing to regional reports by analyzing operational and project delivery trends and recommending improvements.Preparing and writing regional tasks in support of the Eastern North Island Director and the Regional Leadership team.Supporting improvement initiatives that align with conservation outcomes, treaty outcomes, capability training, skills, and culture work at a regional level.This regional role provides support to the wider region as required, involving travel between Tauranga, Rotorua, and Gisborne.This role is not a field delivery role. The planning aspect focuses on work planning, implementing strategy into operational work focuses, and supporting others to work towards the goal of quality over quantity and the right level of work. It is not related to regulatory or consent planning.This role is suitable for an experienced operator who has a demonstrated background in planning and performance improvements. Most importantly, above all, is the ability to be pragmatic, show initiative, and problem-solve.If you have the following, we are keen to hear from you:Understanding of conservation management and national strategies.Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in business planning, financial management systems, and performance reporting.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to integrate and present data insights effectively along with report writing.Proven experience in long-term outcome planning and consultation operational delivery.Knowledge and understanding of Treaty Settlement and implementation context.Mo te tima About the teamThe Regional Operations Group is responsible for delivering conservation work on the ground through our biodiversity, recreation/historic, community engagement, and tiriti teams.The Eastern North Island Region spans across four rohe inclusive of Tauranga Moana through to Rotorua, Eastern Bay of Plenty through the East Coast to Tairawhiti, hosting a range of diverse ecosystems, communities, and recreational experiences across public conservation land from the mountains to the sea. Across the region, there are over 60 Tiriti partners that the region works alongside.This role forms a part of our newly established Eastern North Island Planning and Performance team based out of Whakatane. The role works alongside a team of 6 people to support, plan, and improve performance across the region through a range of initiatives including strategic planning and implementation. A core element of the team is to support a shift into transformational opportunities that lead to better outcomes for Taiao at place, working at times with our national sphere to bring alignment.DOC places importance on developing a culture where everyone can participate, thrive, and grow.
