As our Regional Planner, you will be at the heart of crafting and executing strategic plans that integrate our biodiversity, heritage, and visitor, treaty and community priorities within the Eastern North Island.
You will work closely across the region as required to ensure annual planning supports long-term outcomes, while also providing essential support and advice to the region supporting our Operations team, Eastern North Island Director and wider regional leadership cohort.
Key ResponsibilitiesDrive the development of integrated regional plans that align with organizational strategies and direction to make a difference for Taiao.Support districts to develop district plans aligning with regional and national directives.Provide functional advice focusing on visitor & heritage while integrating planning alongside other functions (Biodiversity, Tiriti, and Community).Problem-solving with a solution-focused mindset.Provide advice and support to functional groups (Visitor, Biodiversity, Heritage, Tiriti) to establish organizational priority uptake across the region.Oversee performance reporting and provide assurance on progress towards targets.Contribute to regional reports by analyzing operational and project delivery trends and recommending improvements.Prepare and write regional tasks in support of the Eastern North Island Director and the Regional Leadership team.Support improvement initiatives that align with conservation outcomes, treaty outcomes, capability training, skills, and culture work at a regional level.This role requires travel across the region to Tauranga, Rotorua, and Gisborne as necessary. It is not a field delivery role; instead, it focuses on work planning and implementing strategy into operational work.
Skills and ExperienceThis role is suitable for an experienced operator with a demonstrated background in planning and performance improvements. If you have the following, we are keen to hear from you:
Understanding of conservation management and national strategies.Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in business planning, financial management systems, and performance reporting.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to integrate and present data insights effectively.Proven experience in long-term outcome planning and consultation operational delivery.Knowledge and understanding of Treaty Settlement and implementation context.About the TeamThe Regional Operations Group is responsible for delivering conservation work on the ground through our biodiversity, recreation/historic, community engagement, and Tiriti teams. The Eastern North Island Regions span across four rohe, hosting a range of diverse ecosystems, communities, and recreational experiences across public conservation land.

The salary range for this position is $79,656.00 - $100,639.00, with the starting salary based on relevant skills and experience. Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including holding a valid work visa that covers the entire period of employment.
