Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity As the Regional Manager, Communications & Engagement you will be responsible for a high performing group of people who manage the communications and engagement planning and delivery for transport infrastructure programmes, projects and operations across the Auckland and Northland regions.
You will join a highly experienced regional engagement leadership group working across the country to develop and deliver our transport work with local government, stakeholders, iwi and communities, ensuring people in your region can engage in our projects, and be well-informed about travel plans.
In your role, you will coach and mentor a strong and successful group of team leaders, principals and advisors, focusing on building a culture of excellence and implementing best practice and efficient engagement and communications approaches. You will be responsible for their planning and delivery outcomes on fast-paced projects spanning a diversified portfolio, including the Auckland and Northland Roads of National Significance (RoNs), safety programmes and customer journey communications.
This is a high influence role where you will also be part of an NZTA Regional Leadership Team (RLT), sitting alongside other senior leaders from around the business to advise on key stakeholder relationships at the project and regional governance level. You will also champion your team internally with key senior leaders day to day, ensuring key insights and feedback from our communities are considered at project decision-making tables.

Ko koetenei | About you To be successful in this role, you will bring:
More than 10 years' experience at a senior level managing large communications and/or engagement teams within large complex organisations, preferably in transport, infrastructure or safety fields. Governance or steering group-level experience, and ideally, central government and political nous, is an advantage. Proven relationship building experience, eg leading, influencing and building credibility across a range of stakeholders, senior managers and their teams. Strong expertise in developing and delivering iwi, stakeholder and community engagement and value for money communication strategies or work programmes. Excellent risk management, writing, editing and presentation skills. You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Maori and Te Reo Maori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
